ShoreTel 8 offers video conferencing

ShoreTel's release 8.0 makes it the first leading unified communications vendor to take advantage of the most recent enhancement to the H.264 standard for video compression, enabling high-quality video at an attractive cost to every desktop, including remote workers, the company says. The move is the latest example of the growing role video communications now is assuming in the unified communications space. ShoreWare Call Manager’s third-generation desktop user interface also offers tabbed windows that make it easier and faster to access voice mail, call history, directories and the speed dial list. The system also offers more intuitive call control features. For example, when a user starts a call transfer, the phone status of the called party is shown in real time, letting the caller decide whether or not to proceed with the transfer. The Professional Call Manager also provides presence information and consolidates instant messaging with voice, video and email for a true unified communications experience. Personal Call Manager also is included in every license, so that every user has soft phone capabilities. It is described as an intuitive, easy to use client. The Professional Call Manager expands call control elements for media handling, with integrated video inside the application.
